The Shiba Inu (SHIB) token can be added to MetaMask wallets because it is an ERC20 token that is compatible with the Ethereum network. You need SHIB tokens on your MetaMask account to use the ShibaSwap exchange or provide liquidity to earn yields.

In this guide, we will outline the easiest way to add the SHIB token to your MetaMask wallet with the verified Ethereum contract address.

What can I do with Shiba on MetaMask?

The main DeFi application SHIB token holders can use on the Ethereum network is ShibaSwap. On this Dapp, you can swap SHIB tokens for other Metaverse coins in the Shiba Inu ecosystem like UFO Gaming, Dogelon Mars, Ryoshis Vision and others.

ShibaSwap users can also provide liquidity to trading pairs to earn fees on trades that are boosted by protocol revenues. The boosted yield is paid out in $BONE, which will be the gas token for Shiba Inu's Layer 2 ecosystem Shibarium. For more information on your SHIB wallet, read our MetaMask Review.

What is Shiba Inu?

Shiba Inu is a decentralized memecoin that was launched on the Ethereum network and has become one of the most popular DeFi applications in recent months. The SHIB token is an ERC20 token that was originally distributed through a community airdrop to holders of the popular cryptocurrency, Dogecoin (DOGE). The airdrop occurred in late May and early June of 2020 and resulted in over 10% of the total supply of SHIB being distributed to DOGE holders.

The Shiba Inu project has a team of anonymous developers who are building a decentralized ecosystem of applications on the Ethereum network. The project is named after the Shiba Inu dog breed, which is popular in memes and Dogecoin.

The SHIB token is used to power the applications in the Shiba Inu ecosystem. These applications include ShibaSwap, a decentralized exchange (DEX), and Shibarium, a Layer 2 scaling solution that will use the BONE gas token.
