What is Algorand?
Algorand is a public blockchain protocol that offers a unique, permissionless and decentralized platform for digital assets. Its key features include scalability, security, and decentralization. Algorand also provides an open-source development platform that enables anyone to build applications on top of the protocol.
The Algorand protocol is based on a proof-of-stake consensus algorithm that allows for fast and secure transactions. The protocol is also designed to be scalable, so that it can support a large number of users and transactions.
Algorand is developed by a team of experienced researchers and engineers led by Silvio Micali, a Turing Award-winning professor of computer science at MIT.
The Algorand protocol is live and running on the Algorand testnet. The mainnet is expected to launch in 2019.
