What is Acala?

Acala is a decentralized EVM-compatible, Layer 1 smart contract platform that powers the most popular decentralized stablecoin on the Polkadot and Kusama networks called aUSD.  Acala allows developers to use both the aUSD ecosystem and the Ethereum network and is built for the Polkadot ecosystem. It can support various financial applications that use smart contract technology and multi-chain functionality.

The stablecoin is a multi-collateralized asset backed by BTC, ETH and other stablecoins cross-chain that help keep sUSD pegged to $1. Acala's sUSD can be used throughout the Polkadot ecosystem on DeFi applications to earn yield, farm and to hold to reduce overall portfolio volatility.
